High Speed Stream
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Event Time: 2025-08-25T05:00Z ( ACE: SWEPAM )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
ACE: SWEPAM
ACE: MAG
Activity ID: 2025-08-25T05:00:00-HSS-001 (version 5)
Event End Time: 2025-08-26T16:30Z
Peak Solar Wind Speed (km/s): 455.0
Date of first appearance of coronal hole in EUV at east limb: 2025-08-18
Note: A very minor/short lived coronal hole high speed stream from a very northern coronal hole which crossed the central meridian on 2025-08-22. The arrival signature at L1 seems to indicate that the high speed stream might be following the (possible) shock of a CME arrival around 2025-08-24T17:10Z and the possible CIR which may have arrived at L1 on the morning of 2025-08-25. No clear candidate CME has been found for the initial arrival. The signature of the coronal high speed stream includes a gradual increase in the solar wind speed from 340 km/s at 2025-08-25T04Z to the maximum of 455 km/s around 2025-08-25T17:30Z. There is an accompanying gradual increase in the ion temperature from 13K to 270K, as well as rapid oscillations of magnetic field components indicative of a high speed stream. The total magnetic field stays just under 9 nT.
